Socialization in Cyber School

The number one concern most families have when making the switch from a brick-and-mortar school to a cyber-school is socialization. When will my children get the socialization skills they need? Are there any socialization opportunities? Will my child meet new friends? These are all questions we hear fairly often.

Bullying is incredibly common: at least one in four students in the United States have indicated they have been bulled at school, and many more students have witnessed or participated in a bullying incident. Many parents may anecdotally remember bullying in the school building and the internet as a refuge from this on-site bullying. However, being surrounded by technology, social media, and digital platforms, cyberbullying has become an issue. Depending on ages and orientations of students, anywhere between a tenth and one half of U.S. students have experienced cyberbullying.

As the month of October comes to an end, we here at PALCS want to thank every single person who was involved in our anti-bullying and bulling prevention activities throughout the month. With October being National Bullying Prevention Month, our Guidance Department sponsored various activities to promote and bring awareness to bullying and prevention.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and here at PALCS, we are celebrating all month long! We want to join together as a community to prevent bullying and make positive changes. The PALCS Guidance Department will be spearheading and sponsoring many activities through the month of October to promote bullying prevention.

Our students here at PALCS amaze us every day, with their dedication, motivation and compassion. Danielle Guth, PALCS 12th grader, is a prime example. As Danielle’s senior year is winding down, there seems to be no slowdown in sight for this bright young woman who be attending Immaculata University next fall.
