March PALCS Activities
If you were a fly on the wall at any of the PALCS offices this past Friday, March 2, you would have seen what we mean when we say there is always something going on within the PALCS community! Students from all different grades and their families gathered at PALCS offices across the state for different events and activities that took place throughout the day.
Last Chance for ’17-’18 K-8 Enrollment, 9-11 Closing Soon!
PALCS is still open for enrollment for the current 2017-2018 school year for grades K-11, but not for long! K-8 families, you have one week left to submit your applications and documents! Final new student orientations are filling up quickly. All paperwork for students in grades K-8 must be submitted by March 9, 2018 in order to have an orientation scheduled before the last available orientation date on March 16, 2018. The last available start date for grades 9-11 will be April 26, 2018 meaning that all paperwork, documents, and an on-site orientation must be completed well before that date.
Two PALCS Students Named Presidential Scholars Nominees
PA Leadership is ecstatic to announce that two of our extremely hard-working and talented students have been chosen as the Pennsylvania nominees for the 2018 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts. Congratulations to USP students Audrey Emata and William McGregor, among the winners of the annual YoungArts competition.
PALCS Visits the Carnegie Museums
On Friday, February 16, 2018, over 200 members of the PALCS community gathered at the Carnegie Museum of Art & Natural History in Pittsburgh, PA. All students in grades K-12 were invited, along with their families and friends, joined by teachers and staff, for a free day of educational fun at the connected museums of Natural History and Art. The event ran from 10 am - 12 pm, though families were invited to stay the duration of the day.
Honor Roll 2018, Marking Period 2
The second marking period of any school year tends to be one of the most challenging. As students and teachers really get into the routine of things, workloads increase and become more difficult. Which is why we are so incredibly proud to announce that over 40% of our students have earned an honor roll certificate in the second marking period.
National School Counseling Week 2018
Happy National School Counseling Week 2018! This special week, wrapping up today, is sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). Taking place from February 5th to February 9th this year, the purpose of the week is to focus public attention on the unique contribution of professional school counselors within the U.S. and highlight the substantial impact school counselors have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. The theme this year is "School Counselors: Helping Students Reach for the Stars."
