Student Spotlight: The Diggs Family

10th grade student Tyler Diggs is off to a great start in his first year here at PALCS! Tyler is a very talented ballet dancer and is also now a member of the University Scholars Program (USP) at PALCS. Tyler is 15 years old and is from Bucks County. The Diggs family discovered PALCS from speaking with a few students who are members of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, who attend or have graduated from PALCS as well as participated in USP and the Center for Performing and Fine Arts (CPFA). Tyler’s mother, Carmina, explained that they chose PALCS over other schools because all of the PALCS graduates that they know who have went on to attend college at reputable schools.

CPFA Presents Shakespeare in the Summer

Performances will take place on July 15 and 16 at 7 pm and July 17 at 4 pm at the Center for Performing and Fine Arts Atrium Theatre: 221 Carter Drive, Suite C, West Chester, PA 19382.

On Saturday June 11, 2016, the sun was shining brightly in Lancaster, PA as 199 PALCS seniors met at Lancaster Mennonite High School. As they gathered for this momentous occasion, the overwhelming feelings of nostalgia and anticipation were transparent. The class of 2016 stood ready, joined by PALCS faculty, staff and their loved ones as they said goodbye to their years at PALCS and hello to their futures; each student carrying with them the hopes and well-wishes of those in attendance.

PALCS CPFA Student Nominated in Winning Film Festival Short

Congratulations to eighth grade PALCS Center for Performing and Fine Arts student Cole Gabrielson on his acting nomination in the award-winning short film "The Radio" at the Brightside Tavern Film Festival in New Jersey. Cole was nominated for Best Actor in a Short. The short was also nominated for Best Short, Best Director for a Drama, Best Cinematography, and Best NJ Short. "The Radio" won for Best Short at the Brightside Tavern Film Festival.

PALCS USP Student Competes in International Science Fair

12th grade PALCS University Scholars Program student Ralph Lawton won 2nd place overall in Biomedical Sciences at the INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held from May 9-13, 2016 in Arizona. This was Ralph’s 3rd time competing at the weeklong science competition, and as a part of his 2nd place award, for his outstanding project, MIT will be naming an asteroid after him!

Pittsburgh Concert Society: Hannah Ishizaki and Joseph Comella

Hannah Ishizaki (10) and Joseph Comella (11) will be joining many talented musicians in March at Kresge Theatre at Carnegie Mellon University as part of the Pittsburgh Concert Society 2016 Young Artists Auditions. Ishizaki is set to perform on March 6th, 2016 while Comella's performance is on March 20th, 2016. Both, along with their families, are proud of their achievements.
